Day Course
REQUIRED
PREREQUISITES:
• Minimum of 18 years of age
• Current CPR Certificate (Proof Required)
• General Medical Clearance to snorkel
• SCUBA Certification or logged proof of 12 hours snorkelling
experience over the past 12 months
• SCUBA Certification or logged proof of 12 hours snorkelling
experience over the past 12 months. If we don’t believe
you have enough experience you may be required to attend a pre
course training day at extra cost.
PREREQUISITE DAY..
- After application form with dive experience detailed, candidate
may need to attend a “pre-req” training day to get up
to speed prior to the actual course.
- This may consist of theory revision, study program, pool skills
session, shore dive/s.
- This will be decided on a case by case situation
- NB: this will be at extra expense to candidate above course costs
POOL
SKILLS COMPONENT (theory & pool skills)
- This takes candidate to “pool snorkel instructor”
level (2 x day program)
OCEAN
SKILLS COMPONENT (theory and practical sessions)
• - This takes candidate to “Ocean Snorkel Instructor”
level, and includes rescue certification (3 days)
- This session will be conducted as land or boat based options.
FIELD
WORK EXPERIENCE
Field work experience is required to finalise AUF Instructor status
requirements and includes:
-
successfully completing twelve (12) hours of instructor supervised
teaching in varied situations both pool & ocean. For qualified
practicing teachers this section may not be needed.
- You will need to apply for AUF/NCAS membership and pay fees -
$80 - to finalize certification status. (This is not included in
initial course fees)
FITNESS
TESTING:
Throughout the course you are required to successfully complete
• 200 metre swim in 6 minutes
• 800 metre surface snorkel in 17 minutes
• Tread water for 10 minutes supporting 2kg weight
• 25 metre underwater swim (5 metres down/15metres
along/5metres up)
• 25 metre surface snorkel with double weight
• Ditch and retrieve weight belt from 5 metres
